At night, just as Selenga was about to fall asleep, she heard something.

From far away. From the mountain.

It sounded like music. Or wind. Or something in between.

She didn't tell anyone. They would have said she was imagining things.

But the voice was real. It came every night.

One morning, she woke up and packed her bag.

"I'm going to the mountain," she told her mother.

“Why?”

"There's a voice there. I need to find it."

Her mother looked at her. In her eyes was something familiar—curiosity.

“Go,” she said. “But be careful.”

The Journey

The mountain was three days away.

Day one brought forests. Thick trees, narrow paths. Selenga walked on.

Day two was rocky terrain. Her feet hurt. But the voice kept calling her forward.

Day three was the climb. Hard. Her hands scraped a little. She ran out of breath. She stopped. She breathed. She continued.

Each night the voice grew clearer.

She was getting closer.

The Summit

She reached the mountain's peak as the sun set.

She looked around.

No one was there. Nothing was there.

Only rocks. And wind.

Selenga sat down. She waited.

The voice came. Clear. Close.

She looked everywhere. Between the rocks. In the wind. In the air.

And she understood.

The voice—it was inside her.

The Inner Voice

All these years, the voice she'd been hearing wasn't coming from outside.

It was coming from within.

What had been calling to her was her own curiosity. Her own courage. Her own desire to explore and discover.

The mountain was just an excuse.

The voice had always been inside her. But to truly hear it, she had to take the journey.

Selenga lay back on the rock. She looked up at the sky.

Stars were beginning to appear.

“I understand now,” she whispered.

And the voice answered—it was her own voice. Her own breath.

“Good,” it said.

The Return Home

Three days later, she was home.

Her mother asked, “Did you find it?”

“Yes.”

“What did you find?”

Selenga thought for a moment. “The voice.”

“Was it on the mountain?”

“No. It was in me. It was always in me. I just had to travel far to truly hear it.”

Her mother smiled. “I knew.”

"Then why didn't you tell me?"

“Would you have understood if I had?”

Selenga laughed. “No.”

"That's why."

What Does This Story Teach?

**About Inner Guidance**: The voice inside us—our instincts, our conscience, our curiosity—is always there. Sometimes we need to take a journey to truly listen to it.

**About Courage**: Real bravery isn't the absence of fear. It's walking forward even when you're uncertain, just like Selenga did.

**About Self-Discovery**: We find ourselves not by looking inward alone, but by stepping into the world and experiencing it.
